This week sees the spotlight shine on the second set of the Early-war product releases, the German Motorised Infantry Company and the French Tank Combat Squadron. Staying with Early-war, Mark then demonstrates how to assemble the German Light Panzer Company and the British Armoured Regiment before Shan Palmatier presents part two of his article on Eastern Front tactics for Flames Of War. Finally, we end the week with the Spanish Blue Division briefing going official.

Eastern Front Strategy: Part Two - Taking The Offensive
Much has been written about the relative merits of the German versus Soviet interaction in Flames Of War, but very little on actual tactics for surviving the merciless Eastern Front. This article is intended as a starting point for those wishing to game the Germans versus Soviets in World War Two.

Spanish Blue Division Intelligence Briefing goes Official
A big thanks to all the feedback from the Blue Division fans that helped make this intelligence briefing represent the Spanish in German service. There are a few changes made since it first went up Under Review. These changes now give the briefing a unique feel that should make it very different to play from your average Mid-war Grenadierkompanie in Flames Of War.

Tank Combat Squadron (FRAB01)
The tanks of France’s mechanised divisions have thicker armour and bigger guns than the Germans, giving you a huge advantage in a head-to-head fight. The German’s may try to out manoeuvre you, but they can’t out run your armour-piercing shot!

Motorised Rifle Company (GEAB09)
The panzer division’s Schützen riflemen lead the way when the tanks get held up by bunkers or a river. Following close behind their assault guns and bunker-busting infantry guns, the riflemen storm the enemy positions covered by their mortars and machine-guns.

What's New on the Wargames Illustrated Website
This month Wargames Illustrated takes a look at the one of the most influential weapons of all time, the Warbow (or longbow as it became known). The outstanding skill of the English and Welsh archers of the 14th and 15th Centuries transformed a weapon that was essentially a piece of weed and string into a decisive, battle-winning piece of technology.
Here on the website we follow this theme by revisiting a range of War of the Roses articles pulled from our archives. Paul Davies takes a look at building Medieval Tents and we include a downloadable set of plans for his Spanish Convent (from WI275). He also went photo mad at Battlegroup South’s Bovington 2010 event and we have the pictures to prove it. After that we take a trip to Italy with a web extra for John Bianchi’s great article and then lastly we have a range of reviews and a showcase of Osprey’s new releases!

Breaking Product News - Thursday, August 12, 2010Due to unforeseen circumstances on the other side of the world we are unable to release our new Italy terrain sets (BB115 - Ruined Monastery, BB116 - Vineyards and BB117 - Rural Roads) at this time. We are currently working to confirm a new release date however at this time it is likely to coincide with the release of our second Italy Battle Book early next year.
The good news though is that ever since we started including Resin bases in our artillery boxes we have had customers contacting us asking how they can get hold of more, either to upgrade their old sets or make dioramas and objectives. Next week the range of bases, including the new staff team bases, will be available for order. Also available are a range of individual guns without crews. These will be available online or via your local retailer from the 14th August.
